Recess & Lunch Volunteer Sign-Up: April 2022

We are reaching out to our amazing Clinton community to continue with volunteering efforts during recess and lunchtime for our students. Please note that shifts are now separated into two times, 11-12 and 12-1. Two volunteers are needed daily for each shift, and depending on need, you will be asked to help with lunch or recess. We also cannot promise that you will be volunteering with your child/ren, but your presence is greatly appreciated where coverage is needed. It takes a village!

As the weather starts to warm up, the Clinton PTA is excited to announce we will be having a Walk-a-Thon on Friday, April 22nd. The Walk-a-Thon will take place during the school day with the amazing support of our PE teachers, Mr. Lehman and Mrs. Lachmond. We ask that all families please register at www.pledgestar.com/clinton and help support our students as they push themselves to complete as many laps as possible.

Volunteers are also needed to help hand out water, mark laps as students run/walk, help cheer on participants, and assist teachers with other needs during the day. The event will be broken down into different grades and times listed below. Please sign up for any available time slot/s that work for you.

Clinton Equity & Inclusion Committee Update

Hello Clinton Families!

Thanks to all who joined the Equity and Inclusion General Interest meeting recently. We got to meet each other, and discuss why a conversation about equity and anti-racism/bias is needed. We heard from parents, teachers and administration on how Clinton is prioritizing diversity and inclusion in and out of the classroom.  And we offered ideas on how we can make space for more dialogue, celebrate our diversity, and make sure every family feels included.

We are just getting started.  All families are welcome, and families of color are especially encouraged to take part.

We want to know your thoughts about Equity and Inclusion at Clinton. Here is a short, anonymous survey. Equity & Inclusion Survey

If you'd like to join or get updates on next steps, sign up hereKeep an eye out for another meeting soon!

Thanks,

Read-A-Thon 2022

Let's Get Reading with our annual Read-A-Thon!

From February 1-March 4, Clinton will be reading with a purpose! Students can log their reading time, ask for sponsors, and answer questions about what they've read. They can even like or comment on books their friends are reading!
All of the proceeds go to the Clinton PTA. We use the funds for awesome things like field trips & assemblies (stay tuned in the spring!), community events like our Pumpkin Patch and Spring Fair, and to help teachers supply their classrooms.

Please note that this program only allows one parent email per student, so we just took the first one on the list from the school roster. We apologize if this isn't the correct email or if it causes confusion. We are happy to share your student's login information if you don't receive it by February 1–just send an email to liz.gordon@clintonelementary.org Thanks for your understanding!

Last year, we blew our reading and fundraising goals out of the water! We earned nearly $10K and read over 200,000 minutes! What can we do this year!

Clinton Equity & Inclusion Committee Kickoff Meeting

Hello Clinton Parents!

We are starting an Equity & Inclusion committee of parents for our school community. And our first general interest kickoff meeting will be:

Wednesday Feb. 2nd at 7:30pm via Google Meet.

Or dial: ‪(US) +1 910-745-6730‬ PIN: ‪962 295 562‬#

Because the work on building community and prioritizing equity is ongoing, the goal is to make this committee a regular space to bring up, discuss and work on equity and inclusion in our school and celebrate the diversity of our community.

All parents are welcome, and parents of color are specifically encouraged to attend. We will:

ASK QUESTIONS -  What are your thoughts on diversity and equity in our school community - families, teachers, staff, curriculum? What's working and what could we work on?

CREATE A SPACE - This will be a parent-led space for equity and inclusion conversations, and a chance to offer your input and talent outside of our general PTA meetings.

BUILD COMMUNITY - Let's get to know each other. The pandemic has made it tough to gather with other Clinton families. We're hoping to offer regular meetings and foster a welcoming community of parents.

Hope you will join!
