GOT GAMES?

Are you in the middle of cleaning out your house after the holiday madness? If so, the International Dinner Committee is collecting games, especially ones from different countries around the world, for our annual event on Thursday, February 6th. This year, in addition to delicious food, we will be having family crafts, music, and games to enjoy throughout the night. If you would like to donate games, please contact Kristy Lynch to arrange drop off or pick up. Thank you!

Clinton School Celebrates Lunar New Year

New York Chinese Cultural Center's resident touring company, Dance China NY, visited Clinton School this morning to perform their "Lion Dance Plus" routine. Students were treated to a performance of traditional Chinese folk dance. The performance brought the children on a tour of China, exploring its history and long cultural traditions.

In additional to the Lion Dance, a popular traditional dance of Lunar New Year celebrations, children were presented with the Chopstick Dance from Mongolia, the Warrior Dance in the traditional Peking Opera style, and the Red Ribbon Dance among others. A few children were also selected to go up on stage to learn parts of the Red Ribbon Dance. They learned the rainbow, firecracker, dragon and waterfall movements.

Special thanks to Polly Kelekis and the PTA for bringing this group in to begin Lunar New Year celebrations at Clinton! 新年快乐! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Cookies for Teachers & Staff | 12/18

Do you have a favorite cookie recipe? Ask any teacher and they'll tell you one of their favorite days of the year is our annual Cookie Exchange for teachers and staff. It's not exactly like a traditional exchange ... for this one, our families provide the cookies, then our volunteers sort and box, so that every member of our Clinton staff goes home with a fantastic variety of scrumptious cookies!

We will be collecting cookies on Wednesday 12/18 to show our appreciation for all the amazing people who support our kids every day. Please bring two dozen tasty treats, in all shapes and sizes, to the Clinton cafeteria by 9am (and include a list of ingredients to help distribute according to allergies). Homemade is great, but stopping by your favorite bakery works too! We also need helpers to sort, box and distribute all of these wonderful treats.

Here are some easy ways to help you stay in the loop at Clinton School:

• Sign up for PTA emails! Our "Clinton Happenings" email arrives in inboxes every Sunday and is the absolute best way to know what's happening at Clinton School. 

• Update your account - Over the summer all website user accounts were changed to "outdated." You need to confirm/update your account in order to be an "active" user on the website. If you already have an account on the Clinton PTA website please LOGIN. Once you do you will notice a blue dialogue box prompting you to verify your contact information. Click on "here" and confirm your contact information. You can also update your child's teacher for the year. You may notice that all students have magically been promoted to the next grade. If that grade information is not correct you can update as well.

• Register for the PTA website (Yes, the one you're on right now!) - We use the site for all sorts of things during the year, so getting your account ready to go now will save you time in the future. You can find instructions on how to register here. 

• Subscribe to the Clinton PTA calendar! Sign up to receive automatic calendar updates. (Note: You'll need to be a registered user of the website before you can subscribe.)

• Follow us on Facebook! Parents and guardians can also ask to join Clinton Elementary School Families on Facebook, a private group for current Clinton Elementary School families to share information, ask questions, learn more about school events and programs, and celebrate our successes. Most grades also have their own grade-specific Facebook group as well. 

• Follow us on Twitter! Get announcements and reminders about events and important deadlines.
